Monday Made It

It's the 1st of July and my first Monday Made It project.  As much as I'd like for this project to be for my classroom...it's not.  This is the first summer that I've had to spend in the new house and the project ideas just keep flowing.

I stood in the kitchen on Saturday night and was starring at my pantry door thinking that it needed something.  As my mind started to wander, I was trying to figure out what I could do to make the door pop and not "blend in."  That's when I landed on this idea...a chalkboard!  The inspiration came from Jackie over at Teal & Lime

I was able to find the roll of chalkboard vinyl at Michael's on clearance for $2.99.  After putting the vinyl on, I realized that traditional chalk was not giving me the bold colors.  That's when I stumbled across another Pinterest find....Chalk Ink Markers. (Thanks to Megan at Honey We're Home for posting.)

After all that, my final project...

Link up and join the fun of Monday Made Its...Thanks Tara!

Enjoy,

  1. I love how this turned out! I was thinking of buying a chalkboard, but I might just paint a section of the door now!! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thanks for sharing about the chalk ink! I've been stalling on a labeling project because I can't make my mind up. I've wondered why people do chalkboard labels since I hated chalk dust when I first started teaching. I think I'll be ordering some of those pens. I bet that is what they use in Trader Joes- I've always been impressed with their chalk work!

  3. Thanks ladies! :)

@Amy- If you're nervous about painting a section of the door, I would go with the vinyl. That way if you change your mind and it doesn't work out you can just peel it off. At least that was my thinking for the pantry door. I didn't want to paint the door, but it needed something.

@Mercedes- Love the Chalk Ink markers! I would never use chalk again. I found the markers at Michael's. They were $11.99, but I used a 40% off coupon.
